The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Apex Legends Producer to Rescue Troubled Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Change Follows Lukewarm Reception

The new appointee assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster early showing last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a more defined game identity.

The president expressed that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.

Trend of Strategic Hires

This announcement echoes a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.

Here is the entire content from the president's communication:

Hello Everyone—

I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I shared you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and creative designers we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re excited for that partnership to persist.”

Given your hard work and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The gamer responses from last fall’s the game testing phase was revealing. It confirmed the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had work to do. It uncovered the need for a clearer identity.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our audience.

The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To boost the remarkable progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of the team. Following a period of conversations, Ben officially joins us on the specified date.

Ben’s management and experience in the competitive gaming space is considerable, having dedicated the past decade and a half developing and managing some of the most popular series in gaming, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in greeting him soon. We are all looking forward to keep seeing the evolution of the game in the months to ahead.

David

Game Information and Vision

Project Ethos was revealed in last year together with a public demo. Then, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an exciting step forward on the genre."

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the official summary explains. "Challenge the rivals with unique powers, stakes, and challenges that evolve every session. Will you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Alternatively aim high, gamble everything, and hope your team can achieve the highest spot? The choice is yours."

The game has not yet received an announced launch window or platforms, but players can expect more updates as creation advances.
