The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
